Participatory tourism, an alternative form of mass tourism, gives value to the relationship between tourism and local people, by participating in the local life of a visited territory. Driven by the affirmation of a new quest and the provision of new offers, this growing phenomenon includes in its approach sharing, meeting and exchanging with the local population.
In the news related to tourism, there are many questions about the place of the inhabitant, a pillar of his or her territory, with a view to embodying the role of key player in the tourism offer. Also, in this profound questioning of people's behaviour, the emergence of tourist territories such as rural areas tends to integrate new strategies by and for the inhabitants.
Between the renewal of tourist forms and the consideration of a territory and its inhabitants, the value given to a visit is now integrated, reflecting a desire to give meaning to one's discovery and journey.
Through research work and in-depth concepts, it will be necessary to reflect on the reorientation of a tourist offer in rural areas through the word of the inhabitant. In order to confront the theoretical aspect, the study will focus on an application field located in Aveyron, the Oreilles en Balade sound trail.
