    Gabriel Deville fut l’un des introducteurs du marxisme en France. Il rédigea très tôt un « Abrégé » du Capital,le fameux ouvrage de Karl Marx. Après avoir participé à la fondation du Parti Ouvrier aux côtés de J. Guesde, il s’en éloigna après l’épisode Boulanger. Il fit son aggiornamento politique et se rapprocha de J. Jaurès. Elu deux fois député de Paris, il resta fidèle jusqu’au bout au Bloc des Gauches et ne rejoignit pas la SFIO après sa fondation en 1905. Il renonça à la politique en 1906 et entama une carrière diplomatique.

    Gabriel Deville was one of the marxism introducers in France. Very soon, he wrote a summary of The Capital, the Karl Marx’ famous book. After being one of the founders of the French workers party with J. Guesde, he got away from it following the Boulanger episode. He did his political aggiornamento and got closer to J. Jaurès. Elected twice as Paris MP , he remained faithful to the Left Block till the end and didn’t join the French Socialist Party after its foundation in 1905. He put an end to his political activities in 1906 and started a diplomatic career.
