- In this research paper I have demonstrated that Alice Munro's short story was inspired by the 1927 film SUNRISE by F.W.Murnau which présents a man's moment of choice between his "good" wife and "evil" mistress from the city. In order to do this I have drawn upon the archétypes in the film and explained how they have been reproduced in the short story. I have also demonstrated that the ethical and philosophical concepts present in SUNRISE are also present in "The Love of a Good Woman"
