    • L'idéal spartiate est un véritable « miroir sans tain », véhicule de toutes les illusions dans la France des XVIII° et XIX° siècles. Les Modernes sont inspirés par la trame de leurs prédécesseurs et les ruptures chronologiques de leur temps pour intégrer ou rejeter Lacédémone dans leur temporalité. Dans cette perspective, un questionnement demeure : comment, entre théorisation et pratique, Sparte influence t-elle la société française durant ce centenaire ? Quelles sont les origines de son succès et de sa décadence qui lui valent ainsi une telle mobilité idéologique en France ? Spontanément, le mythe de Sparte est engrené par les Modernes dans une mécanique complexe entre l'historia magistra vitae cicéronienne et la ktema es aei de Thucydide. Entre une ultime vérité et un modèle intemporel, l’œuvre des Anciens reste à entreprendre de manière concise dans un contexte moderne politiquement fracturé.

    • The Spartan ideal is a true "one-way mirror", the vehicle of all illusions in 18th and 19th century France. The Moderns are inspired by the framework of their predecessors and the chronological ruptures of their time to integrate or reject Lacedemon in their temporality. From this perspective, a question remains: how, between theory and practice, does Sparta influence French society during this centenary? What are the origins of its success and decadence that have led it to such ideological mobility in France? Spontaneously, the myth of Sparta is entangled by the Moderns in a complex mechanics between the Ciceronian historia magistra vitae and the ktema es aei of Thucydides. Between an ultimate truth and a timeless model, the work of the Ancients remains to be undertaken in a concise manner in a modern, politically fractured context.
