    • Le patrimoine vernaculaire témoigne de l’histoire d’un territoire, de son vécu et de son identité. Cette appartenance à un passé et à une culture propre offre un caractère distinctif de la région, du département ou de la commune en question. Il se manifeste par le biais de particularités architecturales, patrimoniales et bien sûr historiques et contribue ainsi à jouer un rôle important dans le développement local. Ce mémoire apporte un regard nouveau sur le rôle joué par l’office de tourisme dans la préservation et la valorisation de ce patrimoine. En ce sens, nous tentons de comprendre les différents moyens mis en œuvre, qu’il s’agisse de moyens traditionnels ou bien plus novateurs car liés à l’exploitation de données dites massives : le Big data. Cette analyse nous permet en outre d’étudier les mécanismes mis en place par les collectivités territoriales dans la préservation et la promotion de ce patrimoine : quels outils sont mis en place ? Comment fonctionnent-ils ? Sont-ils réellement adaptés aux territoires ? Autant d’interrogations auxquelles nous allons répondre et qui soulignent la dimension transversale du secteur touristique dans nos sociétés.
    • Vernacular heritage reflects the history of a territory, its experience and its identity. The fact that it belongs to a past and to a specific culture gives a distinctive feature to a region, a department or a town itself. It manifests itself through architectural, heritage and of course historical particularities and thus contributes in playing an important role within the local development. This master dissertation brings a fresh look at the role played by the tourist office in the preservation and enhancement of this heritage. In that respect, we are trying to understand the different means which are currently implemented, whether they are traditional or more innovative because linked to the use of the so-called Big data. This analysis also allows us to study the mechanisms implemented by local authorities in the preservation and promotion of this heritage: what tools are established? How do they work? Are they adapted to those territories? Such questioning will be answered as they underline the transversal dimension of the tourism sector in our societies.
